I thought this would be a good time to update you all on the fact that I am pulling together a family history book. The book will be about my maternal grandmother and her ancestors. It is coming along slowly but nicely, and is full of photos, and stories about the different generations. The current working document is 124 A4 pages long, and the more research I do and the more I discover it just keeps growing and growing.
My reasons for pulling together this book is to share the information I have gained from my years of research into my family tree. I think it would be a shame for my ancestors stories to be lost to time, and even though what I can pull together is a poor substitute for their own words on their lives, I think it is still worthwhile as most people are curious to know where and how their ancestors lived, but most of us do not have the time or resources to research our own trees. When I share interesting information I have found with my family members there is a bit of wonder and disbelief that this information is even out there.
The people who will be included in the book are:
Veronica (Wonnie) Camac with a mention of her sister Daphne Eugenie Paynter
Their parents: Arnold Frederick Paynter and Vera (Marna) Gladys Olive Pearl Lawson
Their parents: Charles Paynter and Susanah Thornton, and Alfred James Lawson and Marie (Minnie) Franziska Wilhelmine Rauth
With some spare information on their parents: Francis Paynter (unknown spouse), Henry Thornton and Louisa Hadgkiss, Nelson Gustav Lawson and Maria Ford, Johann Wilhelm Rauth and Marie Auguste Therese Agnes Grabsdorff.
The book will include the full transcript from my Great Uncle Ted Lawson, who wrote a family history of sorts, and I hope to include the full transcript of Charles Paynter’s diary which was written during his family’s journey to South Australia. The original copy is kept in the State Library. I also have some information on some siblings that I can, and may, include if it helps to paint a picture of the events in their lives.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
If you have any photographs of the people listed above or their homes, or anecdotes, letters, diaries or family bibles that you are able to forward copies of to me for inclusion in the book it will be greatly appreciated. I was fortunate enough to receive some family photographs a year ago that I think would be wonderful to share, and I have included all that I can positively identify from those. The more I am able to include about our ancestors the more this book will come to life.
